ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Ted

WHERE I COME FROM

I grew up on a farm between Philo and Tolono with the silhouette of the Assembly Hall (now State Farm Center) and Memorial Stadium on the horizon. After studying Business Administration at college, I served our nation in the US Army’s 82nd Airborne Division. I bought my first house and returned home a married man to serve my state through an Illinois National Guard unit out of Champaign. While serving in the Guard, I continued my education and worked two jobs in Urbana. A position teaching high school chemistry and ultimately a career in Information Technology took me to the suburbs of Chicago for a while. Upon adopting our four children, we could think of no other place to raise our children but at home in Champaign County with our family and friends.  I worked several years for the University of Illinois in Technology Services and the Foundation as a Business Process Analyst. I left the University to apply my trade to the corporate sector where I successfully operated as the Director of Operations for a transportation company out of St. Louis.  Even with the success of that position, there was a toll being away from my family for so long during the week.  Seeing my children grow so quickly, I decided to return home to find a job where I could participate more in their lives before they all grew up and moved away. I accepted the Facilities Manager position at Judah Christian School in Champaign. Ultimately, I was also able to teach and serve as the Head Football Coach for a burgeoning team.

COMMUNITY WORK

While in the suburbs, I worked with the Peoples’ Resource Center to distribute food and teach computer skills to adults in order to improve their living situation.  Additionally, I organized a curriculum and taught computer skills to inmates in the local jail for the JUST of Dupage program with the goal of improving lives through education and life-long skills.  I currently serve as a deacon at my church. I have taken missions trip including a trip to Ecuador to improve access to technology for a local tribe.  For several years, I served as the Executive Director of the Tolono Fun Day Festival. I was just recently promoted from firefighter to Lieutenant at the Sadorus Fire Protection District. I currently serve my community as a volunteer EMT responding to emergency calls in our dedicated Carle/Arrow ambulance. I am an officially trained weather-spotter alerting our local weather service during inclement weather.  I also enjoy local heritage events displaying our family’s antique tractor for evets in Penfield, IL and Mt. Pleasant, IA.

Bringing Service & Professionalism
back to County Finances

I am the best choice to be the Champaign County Treasurer. My years of experience as a certified LEAN/Six-Sigma certified Business Process Analyst give me the competitive edge to solving the troubling issues that have been impeding the Democratic-run Champaign County Treasurer’s office for the past two years.
